Safety Innovation in the Middle East - Q&A with a customer and partner

We pull back the covers on an incredibly innovative safety-related project Axora is working on with Absolute Electronic Technology, combining 3 of our solutions for a wide-scope set of requirements.

We’re working on a ground-breaking safety project in the Middle East with a company called Absolute, founded and run by Ian Beesley. Ian approached Axora with a huge challenge – to pull together a suite of technologies that can meet a challenging scope from his customer, one of the largest names in the oil and gas industry globally. They wanted to deliver an end-to-end safety platform covering worker health (heat stress monitoring), vehicle tracking, emergency response, permit to work, PPE compliance, crane collision detection and much more. We have been working together now for a few months pulling together the solutions from our amazing solution providers. Here is what he had to say about the project and working with Axora:

Q: Tell us about Absolute and how you came across Axora ?

A: We are a boutique, well-established Bahrain and Saudi-based solution provider, specialising in networking, positioning systems and asset tracking in the wider Middle East region. One of our customers set us a big and urgent challenge, and I came across Axora’s marketplace through some basic web searching. I put an enquiry in to ask for help pulling together a solution to my customer’s challenge, and we've been working together closely ever since.

Q: Tell us more about the challenge ?

A: My customer is a major player in the O&G industry in our region and needs to build a comprehensive end-to-end safety platform for a specific large scale engineering project they are working on. They wish to use best of breed innovation to deliver a world class safety monitoring and incident prevention solution. The scope is wide and expansive, ranging from worker health monitoring (it can be very hot and heat stress is a big concern) through vehicle collision avoidance and much more. We are experts at part of this but working with Axora we have been able to bring together some incredible innovations to meet all the requirements.

Q: What has it been like working with Axora ?

A:  We’ve now been working together closely for over 3 months and it’s an incredibly exciting project.  Axora brings a combination of two main assets: project and commercial experience of enterprise scale solutions, combined with the marketplace of some really impressive innovation. They have helped us build some great relationships already with their solution providers (there are 3 separate companies all being integrated into one seamless solution) and we expect to work together to help other customers take advantage of this overall solution.  The solutions have been carefully selected and vetted by Axora and demonstrably proven to be of high quality. I'm really excited about this partnership and we expect to work closely together in a range of projects in my region.

Q: Give us one word to summarise your experience with Axora

A:Innovati-gaging     (yes I stole 2 words into one 😊Innovative and Engaging)

Note from Axora.

The three solutions being integrated are the following:

  1. Digital safety platform for heavy industries
  2. Worker heat stress and health monitoring
  3. Camera and wearable AI solution that optimises plant and worker safety

Solution 1 provides the core underlying platform - worker ID, permit to work, job allocation, emergency response processes etc.

Solution 2 provides worker health monitoring (heat stress, posture tracking etc) and location services

Solution 3 provides digital geofencing (vehicles and people), PPE detection, crane collision avoidance etc
